Guide IR TA431

The TA431 is a thermal clip-on made by Guide IR and is part of the TA Gen 2 series.

The TA431 comes equipped with a clear 35mm f/1.2 lens to capture thermal signatures. The FOV on this thermal clip-on measures 10.7 x 8 degrees. It comes with a 4x digital zoom to get additional details. It has an eye relief distance of 10mm and the exit pupil diameter is 20mm.

Inside the housing of the TA431 you'll find the (uncooled, 17µm) 384 by 288 pixel thermal sensor with a refresh rate of 50Hz. The NETD of this thermal clip-on is <40mK and it's operating between the 8µm - 14µm infrared wavelengths.

The measurements of this thermal clip-on are 157 x 58 x 79mm (l/w/h) and weighs 490g. This device is rated IP67. It's protected against dust, shocks and water (splashes). It handles temperatures between -30°C and 50°C.

The TA431 is built for surveillance, hunting trips and law enforcement (police, border patrol etc.).

DRI Ranges

DRI stands for Detection, Recognition and Identification and is based on the widely used Johnson's criteria.

  • Detection Detect if an object is present
  • Recognition See what type of object it is (i.e. person, vehicle, airplane)
  • Identification For example see if someone is a friend or foe
Detection Recognition Identification
Rabbit 370 meters 92 meters 46 meters
Person 1303 meters 325 meters 162 meters
Vehicle 3156 meters 789 meters 394 meters

Please note that these values are calculated, always consult the manufacturer for official range numbers.
